US will fund WHO, but at Chinese level

A month ago, Trump ordered to suspend the organization’s financing, but now, according to media reports, he is ready to resume contributions, but at the same level as China.
The United States intends to renew funding for the World Health Organization, but only at the level of China, Fox News reported citing sources. The publication claims that the presidential administration has prepared a letter to WHO, which Donald Trump will soon sign or have already signed.

According to the TV channel, this will mean that the US contribution will be many times reduced. As follows from the document, “if China increases funding for WHO,” the American side will “consider” the possibility of increasing it to the same level.

The letter notes that WHO has shortcomings, but also has “enormous potential”. In addition, it emphasizes that the organization should be reformed and its leadership protected from “political pressure.” The United States also calls for “completely independent assessments of the origin” of the coronavirus and the measures taken by WHO.

Recall, on April 14, Trump instructed his administration to suspend contributions to WHO for the duration of its work analysis.

The American leader called the organization “pro-Chinese” and accused it of mismanaging and hiding data on the spread of coronavirus.
