Intel has every chance to start a journey in a new field. The brand will sell not only processors but also high-performance video cards. The appearance of the first Intel graphics card should be expected no later than the end of 2021. And just recently, a video appeared on the Internet where one of the insiders, known for his accurate predictions, demonstrates an engineering sample of a video accelerator.
All this confirms the “seriousness of intentions” and makes you wait for new news. It is assumed that several variants of accelerators will be released. So, the flagship model will be called Intel Xe-HPG 512EU and will contain 512 computing units. Its clock frequency will be 2.2 Hz, and the amount of video memory GDDR6 will be 16 GB. In addition, the production of more affordable samples with 256 and 384 blocks will be launched.
According to an insider, the computing power of the new product will be similar to that of the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 cards. In addition to the power itself, Intel is ready to offer users proprietary resolution enhancement technology and hardware ray tracing. Taking into account the fact that the production of video accelerators is not scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, it will be possible to purchase them only in 2022.
