Wife got almost eight thousand dollars for housework after divorce

In China, a court-ordered a man to pay his wife the sum of 50,000 yuan (about $7,700) as compensation for housework during five years of marriage. About this writes the Guardian.
The newspaper recalled that the country recently enacted a civil code that allows a person to claim compensation from their partner during a divorce if they were the primary caregiver of children, took care of elderly parents or did most of the housework themselves. As noted, the amount must be agreed upon by the partners; if they cannot agree, the court will decide for itself.
Thus, a court in Beijing stipulated that a man named Chen must pay his ex-wife Won a large sum. The woman stated that she took care of her son and her spouse did not participate in household chores.
The couple legalized their relationship in 2015, but they separated three years later. Chen did not file for divorce until last year, with the woman refusing to consent.
She later changed her mind and demanded a division of property as well as financial compensation. In addition to 50,000 yuan, she received custody of her son and monthly payments of two thousand yuan (about $310).
