In a conversation with the Ukrainian TV channel Obozrevatel, Valeriy Potseluyko, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, spoke about Ukraine’s “strike” against Russia.
According to the Ukrainian politician, such a blow was the closure of opposition TV channels in the country.
“Those steps, which were introduced by the National Security and Defense Council, which were introduced by the President – these are very powerful steps. The closure of Medvedchuk and Kozak channels is a blow to their instrument of influence in Ukraine. I am sure that this is a very strong blow and a shock to Russia,” Potseluiko said.
He also said that Kiev was ready for a hypothetical response from Moscow and expressed the opinion that there would definitely be such a blow.
“We believe there will be a counterattack. The only question is when and to what extent,” Potseluiko added.
In early February, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky issued a decree imposing five-year sanctions against the 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK TV channels and Taras Kozak, a member of the Opposition Platform – For Life parliamentary faction and the owner of these channels. The sanctioned media outlets are in opposition to the government and are associated with one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk.
