Xiaomi introduced a safe as part of a smart home

What elements should a “smart home” consist of? Probably one of those that people really need. The Chinese firm Xiaomi has decided to expand this list by adding a safe. It looks quite small, but the internal dimensions allow you to store in it not only documents and valuables but also, for example, a laptop with a diagonal of no more than 12 inches.

The Mijia Smart Safe is durable. Its body is formed, according to lifehacker.ru, with several layers of 65Mn steel and is equipped with special protection against drilling. Thieves will have serious problems if they try to hack it. So, if shaking is detected, the camera will turn on and the image of the “bugbear” will be fixed. The owner’s smartphone will receive a notification of the incident.

But the owners have as many as 6 ways to open it. This can be done by entering a numeric code, using a fingerprint scanner, in an application using Bluetooth, one-time code, or two-factor authentication. You can also open the safe with a regular key. The safe can be powered from a household network via the USB-C port, or from “finger” batteries. At the same time, the manufacturer guarantees autonomous operation from a set of batteries for at least 1 year.

The safe with all its advanced features will cost only 6,660 rubles. Pre-orders for the Mijia Smart Safe will begin accepting from September 9 in the homeland of the brand. The device will go on sale no earlier than October 5.
