The representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on the idea of depriving the Financial Times and the New York Times of accreditation. The corresponding request was sent to the department by the State Duma commission to investigate the interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of Russia.
Maria Zakharova noted that deprivation of accreditation, the expulsion of journalists is not our method. According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such measures are repressive and not peculiar to Russia. Zakharova emphasized that they prefer to respond with a word, backed up by deeds and concrete steps, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry had prepared letters to the editors of the Financial Times and New York Times demanding to refute published information about alleged underestimation of statistics on mortality in the country from coronavirus in Russia.
