Zarif said he was ready to exchange prisoners with the U.S.

Iran is ready to exchange prisoners with dual Iranian and U.S. citizenship for Iranian prisoners held by Americans, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told RIA Novosti on Monday.
“We are now prepared to trade all detainees who are held by the United States on U.S. territory or under U.S. pressure in other countries for dual Iranian nationals because we don’t currently have detainees with only American citizenship. We had two U.S. detainees who we exchanged,” Zarif told the agency.

However, he noted that Iran is not ready to negotiate directly with the U.S. government on this issue and uses the Swiss government as a representative of its interests or the governments of other countries that “want to play a positive role in this process.
